Calendly alternative that's free, fast, and actually respects your real Google Calendar

Public booking link in 60 seconds, slots pulled live from your actual calendar, no $12/mo subscription. Here's what it does and what it deliberately leaves out.

Calendly works. It's also $12-$16 per user per month for the things most small businesses actually need (Google Calendar sync, multiple event types, a booking page on your domain). At 5 users that's $720-$960 a year for a feature that, underneath, is “read my Google free/busy and let strangers pick a slot.”

If you're a one-person business or a small team where every dollar of recurring SaaS gets scrutinized, this is the kind of line item that quietly grows. AutoSync ships a public booking page as part of its base AutoSync AI plan — same core mechanic (free/busy + slot picker + auto-create the calendar event with a Meet link), zero per-user fee.

What “respects your real calendar” actually means

The booking page reads your Google Calendar's free/busy in real time before showing slots to a lead. Three concrete consequences:

  • Existing meetings block their slots. If you already have a 2pm Tuesday call, 2pm Tuesday isn't offered — even if it was open when you set the page up.
  • Personal events block too. A “Doctor” event on your primary calendar is just as opaque to a booker as a sales call. They see the slot is taken; they don't see why.
  • Working hours are honored in your timezone. If you said 9am-5pm ET, a lead in Pacific sees 6am-2pm PT. They never see the slot you'd hate to take.

60-second setup, click by click

One OAuth grant covers it. We ask for calendar.events (read free/busy + write the booking event when a lead picks a slot) and calendar.readonly on the primary calendar. No mailbox access for this automation.

Tell us four things during intake:

  • Business name + slug. Becomes seohandoff.com/book/yourslug.
  • Timezone — picked from a list, not typed.
  • Working hours — Mon-Fri default, weekend opt-in.
  • Meeting length — 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 min.

How it stacks up against Calendly

Honest comparison so you know what you're trading:

What this matches: Google Calendar free/busy sync, automatic Google Meet link, timezone-aware slot display, lead's email captured on every booking, calendar event created automatically.

What this doesn't have (yet): custom branding on the booking page, multiple event types per user, payment collection on booking, round-robin team scheduling, SMS reminders, Zapier integrations.

Translation: if you need a single booking page for “15-min intro call,” this replaces Calendly cleanly. If you have 4 event types per user, charge for sessions, or need round-robin across a sales team, stay on Calendly for now.

What happens after a lead books

The standard AutoSync flow takes over the moment a slot is picked:

  • Calendar event created on your Google Calendar with a Google Meet link auto-generated.
  • Confirmation email sent to both you and the lead from your Gmail address (so it lands in their inbox, not a Calendly-branded one).
  • AI prep doc drafted in your Drive with what we know about the lead — included on Quick Wins tier and above.
  • Row appended to your AutoSync Lead Tracker Sheet so you have a running log of every booking.

What it doesn't do (so you know what you're buying)

No custom domain on the booking link. Page lives at seohandoff.com/book/yourslug. If you need book.yourcompany.com, that's a roadmap item, not v1.

No payment collection at booking. If you charge for the meeting itself (consults, lessons), Calendly's paid tier handles this and we don't yet.

One event type per business. Same length, same buffer, one page. Multi-event-type is on the roadmap.

Customers must use Google Calendar. Microsoft 365 / Outlook Calendar booking pages are Phase D2 — not this automation.
